Since the outbreak of the covid-19, major challenges have been brought to the health and safety of people in China and around the world. When this major global publichealth security incident evolved from epidemic to pandemic, the Wall Streetstocks fell in response, and several “meltdowns” have occurred. The globali ndustrial chain is facing the risk of “broken chains”, and unemployment in major economies of the world becomes serious. When the current epidemic peak in our country has passed and the epidemic outbreak has spread more and moreabroad, where will the world economy go from here? What impact will the development of overseas epidemic situation and economic recession of developed countries have on our economy? How should our country effectively resume production? What are the major challenges and opportunities facing the Chinese economy and what strategies should we adopt? Qiu Bin, male,Ph.D., Director of the Institute of International Economics of Southeast University, Distinguished Professor of Southeast University, DoctoralSupervisor at the School of Economics and Management, Postdoctoral Fellow atthe Institute of World Economics and Politics, Chinese Academy of SocialSciences, Visiting Scholar at Columbia University (2010-2011), Visiting Scholarat University of Maryland (2003), Visiting Scholar at James Cook University inAustralia (2008), Executive Director of China World Economics Association,Deputy Secretary General of China-America Economics Association. He has ever beenselected for 2009 “Excellent Talent Support ProgramNewCentury” by Ministry of Education. His main research fields are internationaltrade, international investment and world economy. He has hosted a number ofhigh-level projects including the Key Projects and General Projects subsided byNational Social Science Fund, the Humanities and Social Science Projects of theMinistry of Education and the Jiangsu Provincial Social Science Fund Key Projects, and Major Bidding Projects of Jiangsu Universities. Professor Qiu Binhas published more than 30 high-level papers in high-level academic journals athome and abroad such as Economic Research, China Industrial Economy,World Economy, Management World and SSCI journals, and published6 monographs and textbooks. He is the anonymous reviewer of many top academicjournals such asEconomics Researchand World Economy. He has won the first prize of the SoutheastUniversity Young Teachers’ Teaching Contest, and the second prize of theJiangsu Philosophy and Social Science Outstanding Achievements for four times,and the third prize for one time.
